Christina Weiland
December 15, 1926 – December 6, 2018

Christina Theresia (nee Wegleitner) Weiland of Bethany Pioneer Village, Middle Lake, SK passed away peacefully at her residence on Thursday, December 6, 2018. She was 91 years of age. Christina was born to John and Louisa (nee Lukan) Wegleitner in the Fulda District, SK on December 15, 1926. She was raised on the Wegleitner homestead along with her 14 siblings and attended the Epson School in Fulda. They were a very large and musical family and as children they enjoyed many dances in their own living room. Christine met, and married Albert Weiland on October 18, 1949. They soon moved to the Weiland homestead near Lake Lenore, where they began a family of their own. After the loss of their first-born son, Paul they were blessed with six beautiful children, four girls and two boys. Christina loved singing and harmonizing and sang in the choir at St. Augustine Parish. She was an avid gardener, loved to bake and take pictures of everything around her. Christina was also an active member of the St. Elizabeth Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and just recently received her 70-year membership pin for the Catholic Women’s League. Christina loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren! Nothing made her happier then having them come spend time with them during the summer at their cabin. She enjoyed the lake and never let her fear of water keep her from enjoying her cabins at Wakaw Lake, Stoney Lake and eventually Lucien Lake. Christina and Albert loved to entertain and spent many nights enjoying a good game of cards with friends and family. After Albert passed in 2008, she soon moved to Bethany Pioneer Village and fell in love with it; the community and the residents, but mostly the staff. They were the sweetest most caring people and made it feel like home. When Christina passed away, they acknowledged the loss like it was a family member. It was evident she had made so many special relationships in the ten years that she was there. Christina will be sadly missed by her six children and their families: MARYANN (Neil) Kalthoff and family: Dana (Travis) McKinnon and children, Draven (Cormac), and Tyson, Layne Kalthoff and his daughter Eleanor; PETER (Diane) Weiland and family: Shannon (Dave) Priest and children, Alyssa, Daxon and Avery, Adam (Ashley) Weiland and children, Jordyn and Ansden, and Jared Weyland; ANGELA (Miles) Doepker and family: Jillian (Christopher) Blackbeard and children, Milo and Harper, and Matthew Doepker; GERARD (Shari) Weiland and family: Megan (Nick) Wieterman and children, Jack and Hanna, Jon Weiland and his daughter Kali, and Luke Weiland (Morgan); CHRIS (Mark) Dunham and family: Brad Dunham (Amanda), Curtis and Cole Dunham; PATRICIA (Perry) Thompson and family: Aidan, Levi and Autumn Thompson. Christina is also survived by her brother: Joey (Dorothy) Wegleitner; and sisters-in-law: Lois Wegleitner and Jeanette Bender. Christina was predeceased by her husband Albert Weiland; son Paul Weiland; parents John and Louisa (nee Lukan) Wegleitner; and numerous brothers and sisters. A Funeral Mass was offered at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt, SK on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., celebrated by Fr. Joseph Salihu.
