Bob Gudmundson
January 18, 1954 – April 7, 2018

Robert “Bob” Clifford Gudmundson, 64 years, of Humboldt passed away peacefully at Humboldt District Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born to Lurena Gudmundson (nee Davis) in Wynyard SK on January 18, 1954.  He grew up in Lanigan with his mother, his grandmother Ida Davis and his older sister DeeDee (Deanna).  In 1973 Bob met the love of his life, Elaine Dobmeier. In July 1975 they were married and started their life together in Lanigan.  Bob started his career as an auto body technician at Lanigan Auto body.  In 1976 they moved to Saskatoon where Bob worked for a muffler shop.  Bob and Elaine later moved to Pilger, SK this is where Bob worked alongside his brothers in law at the Pilger Auto body.  In 1982 Bob and Elaine welcomed their first daughter, Christin, into their family.  In 1983 Bob started working for Humboldt Auto body and stayed for many years.  1984 brought the addition of Bob and Elaine’s second daughter, Crystal, to complete their family.  In 1990 Bob and Elaine moved their family into Humboldt.  Bob took a break from auto body in 2001 to try his hand at heavy equipment work for KMK, and Kal-Tire before returning to his Humboldt Auto body family in 2003.  He stayed there until 2010 when, due to health issues, he took an early retirement.  Bob was never still, he was happiest when he was going and doing.  He loved to tinker on his vehicles, was continually involved in home repairs, and was always willing to jump in to rescue his daughters... be it helping them move or building a deck; he was in his glory when he was needed.  He welcomed his grandchildren with open arms and a very happy heart. Crystal gave him his first granddaughter, Deanna, in 2003 who was followed very closely by his first grandson, Coby, from Christin. Christin provided him with another grandson, Ehran, in 2005 and a granddaughter, Cierra, in 2007.  Crystal rounded out the crowd and balanced the numbers with a third grandson, Norman, in 2015 and a third granddaughter, Abigail, in 2017.  Bob loved to go camping with Elaine and friends during the summers, going out for coffee, quadding with his nephew, and snowmobiling in the winters.  He tried to get out hunting for white tail each season as well and was a member of the Humboldt Wildlife Federation.  In quiet time, he liked to do Sudoku puzzles and play iPad card games. In the years after his retirement Bob and Elaine indulged themselves in a couple dream vacations by going to Disneyland and Las Vegas.  Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years Elaine Gudmundson of Humboldt; two daughters and six grandchildren: Christin (Chris) Matalski and family Coby, Ehran and Cierra and Crystal Gudmundson (Darcy Skarra) and family Deanna Gudmundson, Norman Fisher and Abigail Fisher, all of Humboldt; mother, Lurena Gudmundson of Lanigan, SK; numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in law, aunts, uncles, cousins and his special group of many good friends.  Bob was predeceased by his sister DeeDee (Deanna) George; grandparents Ernie and Ida Davis; uncle Harold Davis; father Johann Gudmundson, and members of the Davis, Gudmundson and Dobmeier families. A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from Royal Canadian Legion Hall, Humboldt, led by Russ Dann.  Memorial donations in Bob’s memory may be directed to Humboldt District Hospital.
