Arnold Kenneth Stolz
October 16, 1928 – June 20, 2018

The death of Arnold Kenneth Stolz of Humboldt, SK, occurred at Humboldt District Hospital on Wednesday, June 20, 2018. He was 89 years of age. Arnold was born on October 16, 1928, to Jacob and Mary (nee Beckman) Stolz at home on their farm in the Burton Lake district, north of Humboldt. He grew up there and attended Burton Lake School, but quit school early to help with the operation of the family farm. A few years later, he spent the winter months working in a lumber camp at Ocean Falls, BC. On November 23, 1954, Arnold married the love of his life, Verena Beuker. Their union was blessed with four children, three sons and one daughter. Arnold and Verena lived on their farm by Stoney Lake until moving into Humboldt in 1998. They continued to farm from town. Arnold was a hard worker but also took time to enjoy life. Throughout his life, he had a passion for music and loved to sing and square dance. Arnold was an accomplished musician, and taught himself to play by ear the guitar, accordion, organ, keyboard, harmonica, and fiddle, which was his favorite. He entertained many people over the years. Watching wrestling, playing cards and bowling were other pastimes he totally enjoyed. With a keen interest in hockey, he coached his sons, and was an enthusiastic fan of the Humboldt Broncos. As an avid outdoorsman, many pleasurable hours were spent hunting, fishing, trapping, and spending time at the family cabins at Marean Lake and then at Weyakwin Lake. Arnold enjoyed anything to do with the outdoors; harvesting his crops or his garden were not only enjoyable but gratifying too. Arnold and Verena also loved traveling, and many memories were made on visits to Florida, Arizona, a Caribbean cruise, and their favorite vacation spot, Las Vegas. On August 6, 2015, Verena passed away. Arnold continued to reside in their home until failing health prevented him to do so. At that time, he became a part of the loving family at Maria’s Care Home. Family was very important to Arnold; his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. A man of strong faith, he enjoyed celebrating it at Mass. Arnold and his beloved wife Verena were always together, and now they will be together in Heaven with the Lord. Arnold will be lovingly remembered by three children, seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren: Marvin (Ellen) Stolz of Humboldt, SK, and family, Robert Stolz and Eric Stolz, both of Saskatoon, SK; Kim Stolz of Humboldt, SK, and family, Sarah (Drew) Dale and their children Brielle and Raxtyn of LeRoy, SK, and Cameron Stolz (Chantel) and daughters Isabella and Ariel, all of Warman, SK; Arlene Lockinger of Humboldt, SK, and family, Curtis (Jane) Lockinger and their daughter Paice of Whitecourt, AB; and daughter-in-law, Aileen (Ryan) Haeusler and family, Blair (Noel) Stolz and their daughter Morgan, and Shawn Stolz, all of Lethbridge, AB; sister-in-law, Hilda (Bill) Simmer of Humboldt; brother-in-law, Ben Lohman of Middle Lake, SK; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Verena (nee Beuker) Stolz (August 6, 2015); son Colin Stolz (January 27, 1996); daughter-in-law, Valerie Stolz (May 27, 2018); parents, Jacob and Mary (nee Beckman) Stolz; brother, Raymond Stolz; and sister, Evelyn Lohman.
