Allan Joseph Doepker

September 14, 1940 – September 19, 2017

With family by his side, our loving husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at Humboldt District Hospital, Humboldt, SK.  He was 77 years of age.  Allan was born on September 14, 1940, in Humboldt and was the eldest son of Leo and Celestine (nee Stangel) Doepker.  He was raised on the family farm near Annaheim, SK, and attended Leavenworth Country School until beginning high school in Annaheim.  Following high school, Allan attended Teacher’s College and he began his 30-year teaching career in 1963.  He later completed his Bachelor of Education Degree in 1970.  Allan and Beatrice Schreiner were married on July 6, 1963, in Annaheim where they raised their two sons, Kelly and Darren.  During his career, Allan touched countless lives as a passionate teacher and coach, and genuinely cared for all of his students. Additionally, Allan was very active in the community, as he served many years as town councillor, a member on the Board of Directors for St. Gregor Credit Union, a member of the Annaheim Rec Board, as well as the President of the Annaheim New Horizons.  He was an avid baseball player, curler, card player, musician, outdoorsman and gardener.  As time passed, Allan’s grandchildren brought great joy to his life as he very much enjoyed traveling to their various activities and sporting events. Allan is lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Beatrice (nee Schreiner) Doepker; two children, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren:  Kelly (Bobbie) Doepker of Maidstone, SK, and family, Taylor (Dean Ogg) and their children Sawyer and Orie, Kassidy (Quinn Flegel), and Morgan (Dan Brelje); and Darren (Jackie) Doepker of Saskatoon, SK, and family, Colin, Brett and Kristen; four brothers and one sister:  Lorne (Janice) Doepker; Merlyn (Rick) Palmer; Marvin Doepker; Darrel (Yvonne) Doepker; and Aldon (Trina) Doepker; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.  He was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Celestine (nee Stangel) Doepker; his father-and-mother-in-law, Adolph and Loretta (nee Sarauer) Schreiner; as well as numerous other family members.  The Prayer Service for Allan was held at St. Ann’s R.C. Church, Anneheim, on Sunday, September 24, 2017, at 6:30 p.m., led by Glenn Taphorn.  Scripture readers were Donna Dube and Jerome Dauk, and the eulogy was delivered by Scott Vanderlinde.  Music ministry was provided by director Lorraine Holtvogt and members of the St. Ann’s Parish Choir.  The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Ann’s R.C. Church on Monday, September 25, 2017, at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Anthony Atter.  Others taking part were:  Colin Doepker, crossbearer; Jackie Doepker and Jinny Doepker, scripture readers; Kassidy Doepker, intentions; all of Allan’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren, giftbearers.  Urnbearers were members of Allan’s family.  Honorary pallbearers were “all those who shared in Allan’s life”.  Interment followed at St. Ann’s R.C. Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be directed to either the St. Ann’s R.C. Cemetery Fund or the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation Palliative Care Unit.  “The family wishes to thank the Chemotherapy and the Emergency Department at the Humboldt District Hospital for the wonderful care and compassion Allan received during the last year and a half.”
