People have been going nuts about the season eight premiere of Games of Thrones.

People around the world called in sick Monday morning to stay home and watch the first episode of the new season.

In Saskatchewan, the episode aired at 7 PM. Although, Europe and Asia were stuck watching it between the hours of 2 PM - 9 AM. So people either called in sick to sleep in or to stay home and watch it.

This news got me thinking, there are probably a lot fewer people calling in sick to stay home and watch their favourite TV show with streaming services now available. Netflix, Crave, and a bunch of other services allow you to watch whenever and wherever you want. You also don't have to wait a whole week for the next episode to air. Last but not least, You don't have to wait for commercials to end or rush back to the TV after a bathroom break. You can pause or stop the show to allow you to do whatever you need to do.

That's why kids nowadays will never understand the hurdle over the couch when your family yells, "IT'S BACK ON!"
