Motivation: 1, Temptation: 0.

After my afternoon in the newsroom yesterday, I casually walked into the staff kitchen and found this half of a Boston Creme doughnut on the dining table, plated and all.

Many delicious treats have made that table their temporary home over the past little while, and I was met with an age-old conundrum:

Do I eat that doughnut?

The inner dialogue push and pull that ensued after seeing that creme-filled confection was a test for my mental resolve.

It's that time of year when many of us have to dig deep in order to stick to our "healthy lifestyle" New Years resolutions. I knew that as long as I don't have as much as a taste, I can manage to stick to my dietary guns.

Luckily, the doughnut had magically disappeared from the table by the next time I entered the kitchen. A sigh of relief escaped my mouth.

Faced with my looming new stringent gym schedule, I am pleased to say that in this battle of wills, Temptation played sore loser to my motivation to stay healthy.

THIS time.
