Friday was National Grilled Cheese Day!

Living by myself, grilled cheese is a common meal. When you make a grilled cheese sandwich, it's like a form of art.

You need good bread; you can't make a grilled cheese without great bread. It's the backbone of the sandwich. Now the cheese is important because it supplies the flavour. You need real cheese -- we don't want to peel off a piece of plastic off your cheese. You need the real block of cheese that you have to cut yourself. I like lots of cheese, but that's just me.

Another element is what you spread on the bread before cooking your work of art. You can use margarine, butter, mayo, or whatever you feel is necessary. Believe me, one of those is needed! One last feature on the grilled cheese sandwich, which is optional, is meat. Ham, bacon, pulled pork, or anything else you want to add to the sandwich.

Boom! You've got yourself the perfect specimen of a grilled cheese sandwich.
