High winds and blowing snow hampered efforts of Wakaw/Hoodoo Fire and Rescue as they contended with a blaze involving multiple structures.

On March 8th, 2022 at 10:10am, Wakaw/Hoodoo Fire and Rescue received a call for a

structure fire 25 km northwest of Wakaw. Two rescue engines, two tankers, a rescue truck and a command truck responded to the scene.

First responders found one structure fully involved with heavy smoke showing from all sides. The fire quickly spread to the neighbouring structure due to extreme winds. Firefighters made entry into the second structure and performed an interior attack but were soon evacuated from the building due to quickly deteriorating conditions. Crews performed exterior attacks to knock down the fire.

No injuries to report in this incident. No damage estimate is available at this time. Both homes received major structural damage.

Crews remained on scene monitoring for hot spots.
