Hello, Mohawks fans!

I have played, coached, refereed, and called many football games throughout my lifetime. I have seen many high school teams play over the years and I've never seen any like the Humboldt Mohawks.

This team is having its best season over the past 5 years as they have outscored their opponents 192-52 over four games. Not to mention the team is on pace to take first place in their conference for the second time in three years. The team also has twelve Grade 12 students on the active roster, but let's not focus on the numbers completely.

The numbers may show how good the team is in a sense, but it doesn't do the team justice. In order to see how good the Mohawks actually are, you need to watch them. The team as a unit is lightning quick, as the defense makes it to the ball before the play has even developed. As for the Offense, the run game has been a huge help with Dawson Herring at tailback running mad over the past few weeks. Quarterback, Carter Tarnowski has also shown his ability to both throw and run the ball even when under pressure.

But what really gets me thinking that this team can dominate for another year is the depth they have on the roster. Behind all the Grade 12 students there are twelve Grade 11 Students. Which means next season the team will have just as much veteran presence as they do now.

The Mohawks are off to Nipawin this Friday to play the Bears. This is the first matchup between these two teams this season, as the Mohawks sit at 4-0 the Nipawin Bears are at 3-1. After that Nipawin visits the Mohawks for the final game of the regular season. Also, the Melfort Comets are at 3-1, which means the next two games against Nipawin are must wins for the Mohawks if they want to take first place. Good luck this Friday Mohawks!
