107.5 Bolt FM is the official broadcast station of the Humboldt Broncos. We play every game online and on the air, and our play-by-play announcer is Rory Mcgouran.

However, there is another side of the broadcast that goes unnoticed.

When we do a Broncos game, there is the play by play team in the arena itself. As well, there is one person back at the station, sitting patiently, listening to Rory's every word and queuing up commercials and player interviews. For the 3 hours of the game, usually, myself or whoever is slated to work the "board-op" (as we call it at the station) will sit in the studio, listen to the game, and make sure that the program runs smoothly and makes it on air.

I will say this; for being a rather lonely part of the job, it is actually quite rewarding. For those 3 hours, I'm held down to one location, which often forces me to take care of odds and ends that have accumulated throughout the week, alongside doing a diligent job of making sure a quality broadcast is put out.

Board-opping is a great way to get involved with the Broncos, do more for the station, and get done small things that may pile up throughout the week.

I'm really loving the board-opping life, and hope to continue next season.
