The 18U AA Muenster Red Sox threw all they had at the opposition in the Tier 2 provincial finals in North Battleford this weekend. Those efforts were rewarded with a final win against the Saskatoon Blue Jays following a heartbreaking 7 - 6 loss to the Lumsden Cubs.

Their Saturday opener was a close affair with teams keeping close pace into the 5th inning. The Cubs opened the scoring with a pair in the first, but Muenster charged back with a passed ball score by Owen Edwards in the second and another run in the third as he and Jayden Sparks crossed the plate on a Jacob Painter single. The Cubs would score another 5 runs in the 5th and 6th innings, while the trio of runs scored by Muenster in the bottom of the 6th left Muenster just shy of the victory.

The tables turned later for Muenster in the afternoon matchup with the Saskatoon Blue Jays. Muenster capitalized on hot bats in the 3rd and 4th innings to put up 5 runs and take a 7 - 4 lead going into the 5th. Saskatoon battled back with 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th, but the Red Sox’ Rhett Bryksa singled to drive in Hudson Edwards for the win.

Hats off to the 18U AA Red Sox for a strong showing and entertaining ball throughout the season.
