Play is underway in baseball at the Canada Summer Games in Niagara Falls, and local eyes are on Team Sask with an astounding four players from the East Central U18 AAA Red Sox on the roster for their province.

Canada rebounded yesterday from an opening 10-0 loss to Team Ontario. Mac Robertson (Toronto, ON) and Owen Slater (Bradford, ON) shutout Team Saskatchewan allowing only four hits while striking out six combined. Joel Bauml and Cam Marshak of the Red Sox each contributed hits.

Ontario got off to a hot start in the first inning with a Brendan Lawson (Havelock, ON) two-run shot to give his squad the early lead. Team-O never looked back and continued to play a clean baseball game, committing no errors and combining for ten runs in ten hits offensively, two of them for extra bases.

The Green and Gold got off to a better footing in their second game against Nova Scotia where Team Sask walked away with a 12-3 win. Nova Scotia watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover, dropping their second game of the competition.

The Saskatchewanians broke it open in the second inning scoring six runs to extend their lead. The offense was led by Callum Hollinger (Carnduff, SK and Oakland Flodell (Clavet, SK) both collecting hits and three RBIs. Merek Yeager (Muenster, SK) took the win surrendering zero runs on three hits over four innings, striking out five and walking one.

Saskatchewan now faces BC on Monday afternoon.
