The St. Brieux Crusaders Senior Boys Basketball team added another highlight to their outstanding 2019 season.

The Crusaders not only took home provincial gold back in March during the Hoopla tournament, they also managed to capture one of two Provincial Sportsmanship Awards on Wednesday afternoon.

SHSAA hands out a sportsmanship award to a team every year within their classification for their conduct at provincial championships. The traits that are required to win the award include respecting opponents, officials, fans, and just representing the high school model while giving it your all on the court.

"The best thing about our boys is that they are friends with so many people when we go to tournaments, they cheer on other teams and they know the officials by name. They are just very caring kids," said Ryan Tremblay, head coach of the Crusaders.

St. Brieux also participated in the Energy Classic Holiday Basketball Tournament in Wyoming in December of 2018, took home provincial gold in Hoopla of 2019, and wrapped up the year with the Sportsmanship Award.

"To go to Wyoming, win back-to-back Hoopla gold medals, and a sportsmanship banner, it doesn't get much better than this," Tremblay stated.
