With a large percentage of farmers in the local area beginning the process of seeding season, the rain will soon have to follow.

The temperatures have been positively steady enough to begin the process as we reach May long weekend, but its the rain that has most farmers looking skyward for some precipitation.

"The fields are in pretty good shape, the moisture isn't bad, but we are definitely going to need some rain before too long to keep things going," said Darren Yungmann, a local farmer from the St. Gregor area.

It can be a tricky situation, as obviously the seeds are dependant on the rain. However, time is another cause of concern. Farmers cant wait forever for perfect conditions to seed, and risk having underdeveloped crops by harvest.

"Well, I think most guys are getting started, and it will probably be a week or two before things need to be done. I just want to wish luck to all my fellow farmer friends out there this year. It looks like we might get some rain on Wednesday and Thursday so that would be good."

The weather forecast does call for rain in the latter half of the week, perfect timing for seeding season to get a much-needed drink.
