It would appear Mother Nature, or rather, Jack Frost, would be proud of the irony this Christmas Eve.

On my drive into work on December 24th, the temperature appearing on my dash read an apt -24 degrees. Minus 24 on December 24th kind of made me smile. I also felt relieved at my forethought in warming up my vehicle a solid 20 minutes prior to my departure.

This Toronto 'expat' has never experienced a Christmas Eve this cold in her entire life. I've been hearing about these "legendary Saskatchewan" below-freezing temperatures for the past few months, and experiencing them for the first time is something else.

I can recall many-a-Christmas morning, waking up to sunny skies and "balmy" 10+ degrees of pure warmth. However, disappointment would ensue as a child some years, were we not to experience temperatures cold enough for a fabled winter white backdrop.

Much more of a sure thing in this province, I am content in knowing an abundance of snow will surround us in the Humboldt area this Christmas, and we can proudly sing White Christmas to our hearts' content. We won't be "dreaming of a white Christmas"....we'll be living one.

So, despite my icicle-like feet, Merry Christmas to all, including you, Mr. Frost.
