The Saskatoon Health Region has approved both their operating and capital budgets.
Their operating budget comes with a price tag of $1.246 billion, they operating number was finalized at $145.8 million.
The Ministry of Health will provide the SHR with over $1.159 billion or 93 percent of the total budget. Of that, $836.5 million or 69 percent is spent on providing services to patients in hospitals or long term care centers. 12 percent or $155 million covers community-based care.
Salaries and benefits cut the most from the coffers when it comes to operating the region.
The continued construction of the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital will remain a capital cost focus, construction costs for this fiscal year is $81 million, parkade repairs and infrastructure projects will consume just under $40 million, information technology is nearing $12 million and equipment replacements are going to cost upwards of $13 million.
Over the last half decade, the SHR has seen the growth for services expand by 13 percent.
