Political leaders in Saskatchewan are reacting to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

In a tweet Thursday morning, Premier Scott Moe said that Saskatchewan stands with the people of Ukraine, calling the attacks by Russia "unprovoked, unwarranted and evil."

He went on to say that Russia needs to be met with severe and immediate trade sanctions including the end of importing Russian oil and natural gas.

Meanwhile, Opposition NDP Leader Ryan Meili sent a letter to the premier asking the two sides to stand in solidarity to help support those affected by the attacks.

Meili is asking for an expansion to the memberships for the Saskatchewan-Ukraine Relations Advisory Committee to include members of the Legislative Assembly on both sides of the aisle. He called for an "all hands on deck" approach to support those affected by the invasion.
