2015 was a banner year for parks in Saskatchewan.

This year set a new record according to Assistant Manager of Communications Karen Webb.

"We had almost 3.9 million visits to our provincial parks this summer which is pretty fantastic, it is a significant increase, it's an increase of about 3.4% over last year and 3.2% over our previous record that was set in 2013."

Webb says more and more funding is being provided to the parks system to upgrade campsites and recreation areas, creating a bigger and better draw for families.

"We are pleased to see a record number of vacationers utilizing our parks in the province," Parks, Culture, and Sport Minister Mark Docherty said. "The Government of Saskatchewan recognizes the importance of our parks in relation to the quality of life here. We are committed to investing in park infrastructure to support current demand and future growth of visitation."

Nearly $92 million has been invested in capital projects since 2007.
