One man is dead following a light airplane crash Wednesday night near the town of Hoey.

Wakaw RCMP responded to the scene one mile north of the small community at 8:37, where the 40-year-old pilot was pronounced dead.

Transport Canada has been called to the crash location and will be doing an extensive investigation to determine the cause of the crash.

It is the second plane crash in the province in five days. On July 8, a plane driven by a 22-year-old man crashed near Rocanville.
