Penny Elizabeth Stuckel
March 23, 1942 – July 12, 2022

It is with broken hearts the family announces the sudden passing of Penny Stuckel (nee Lung) of Humboldt, 80 years of age, on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon    .

Penny was born on March 23, 1942 to Leonard and Elvie (nee Baumann) Lung, at Humboldt SK. She obtained her elementary education at Selmond School and graduated grade 12 from Lake Lenore High School. Penny then went on to the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, and graduated as an LPN and went to work at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Later she added an administration diploma to her resume and found work at the Kinistino School District as the school secretary. On March 16, 1963, Penny married her high school sweetheart and love of her life Allan Stuckel at St. Anthony’s R.C. Church in Lake Lenore. From this union, four children were born: Kerry, Curt, Jackie and Jamie. They lived in Humboldt on King Crescent and returned to the Stuckel family farm near Lake Lenore in 1966 where they operated a mixed farm and later, mainly grain. Penny worked side by side with Allan on the farm until they retired to Humboldt in 2006. Some of the most cherished family memories are large Christmas gatherings, family meals on the tail gate in the field, camping with family and friends, and their travels in Canada and Mexico. Penny and Allan loved to travel and travelled to many   destinations in the world. In 1975 Allan obtained his pilot’s license, and this allowed them even more freedom to travel. They flew to Mexico, Central America, Florida, California, and to many destinations across Canada. One of the highlights of their travel adventures was spending 5 weeks travelling around Europe with close family friends. Penny was a very loving and kind woman who enjoyed taking care of her family. Her cinnamon buns, cream puffs, chocolate chip cookies, and shipwreck were just a few of everyone’s favorites. Penny always tried to accommodate everyone’s wishes, especially Curt’s love for double chocolate chip cookies.

Penny was also a talented seamstress and sewed many outfits for the girls. Later her love for quilting with her sister, sisters-in-law, and friends took over as ‘the bee’ made every family member at least one quilt. Family was very important to Penny, and she spent as much time as she could with everyone   including travelling to Sweden to be with Jackie and her family. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandson and was looking forward to meeting two new great grandbabies later this year.

Penny is remembered as Sweet Penny – a beautiful, wonderful, gentle soul, who had a way of making everyone feel special with her infectious smile, genuine interest and her kind open heart.

Penny will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband of 58 years ALLAN Stuckel of Humboldt and four children, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild: Kerry Stuckel of Okanagan Falls, BC; Curt (Cristine) Stuckel of Grandora, SK and family –  Emily (Austin) Wur of Saskatoon, SK and son Grady, and Abigail Wilkinson (Mackinnon Knoll-Totte) of Halifax, NS; Jackie Stuckel (Magnus Svärd) and son André William of Härslöv, Sweden; Jamie Stuckel (Greg Nelson) and sons Liam and Kai of  Grasswood, SK; three brothers: Leonard (Angela) Lung of Humboldt,  Dwayne (Marilyn) Lung of White Rock, BC, and Dale (Myrna) Lung of Watson, SK; brother-in-law Roger Egger of Saskatoon, SK and sister-in-law Darlene Lung of Humboldt, SK as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Penny was predeceased by her parents Leonard and Elvie Lung; two sisters and their husbands and one brother: Evelyn (Jim) Broderick, Karen (Gilbert) Pfeiffer, Ivan Lung; mother/father-in-law Bill and Marie Stuckel (nee Bedard), and sister-in-law Joan Egger.

A Funeral Service was held on Wednesday July 27, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine R.C. Church, Humboldt, celebrated by Father Colin Roy. Memorial donations in Penny’s memory may be directed to the STARS Foundation or Humboldt District Hospital Foundation, Humboldt, SK.
