The Humboldt and District Gallery has announced a new exhibit coming to the Gallery called Melanie Monique Rose: The Flower People which will open on April 1.

“The Flower Beadwork People” was a name given to the Métis, who are well known for their floral beadwork. This exhibition contains felted pieces and blankets designed with floral imagery that invoke stories of people, place, and the land. Personal, cultural, and universal symbolism are woven into the fabric of Melanie’s work with an emphasis on movement, colour, and narrative,” says the Gallery in a release.

Métis/Ukrainian artist Melanie M. Rose will host an evening of storytelling and creation on Thursday, April 13 at the Gallery as well. The artist talk will begin at 6:30 pm and is free for all to attend.

The needle workshop will run from 7:30 - 9:00 pm but has limited positions available. Registration for the workshop comes with a $35 fee and includes all materials needed. You can register by visiting the Gallery or calling (306) 682-5226.

The exhibit will be on display until April 22, 2023.
