Many of you might not know this but the reason why I haven't been producing many blogs lately is that from November 5th to November 8th I was in Ottawa. I had won this trip to Ottawa through the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Humboldt, a program which I have been involved in for the last decade. I applied for the event through the local BBBS organization and sent the application to the head office in Ottawa and I was chosen along with many other teens from across the country to come to Ottawa and spend a day with Parliament.

Leading up to Parliament Day, we did a few things to get us ready for this day. First, we got to talk to some Government Representatives about the Cannabis Law that will be coming into effect next summer.

Finally, on Tuesday, November 7th I got to go to Parliament Hill to spend a day with Parliament. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I got paired up with the MP for this area, Kelly Block. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see Kelly as she didn't fly out to Ottawa just an hour before Question Period started. But I did spend the day with a couple of her representatives and they showed me around all the Government buildings. (I have never gone through so much security before that day).

Then, I went to go see Question Period which was really entertaining. It was like you were watching a UFC press conference as the Conservatives were throwing insults at the Liberals left and right. The main topic they were talking about was the Paradise Papers/Stephen Bronfman scandal. The real funny thing was while this was going on Elizabeth May the leader of the Green Party was just looking at her notes and minding her own business while the Conservatives and Liberals went at it. Trust me it's way different watching it live then it is watching Question Period on CPAC.

Afterwards, I got a tour of Parliament Hill and the most beautiful part of all was the Library which if you've never seen it I'd recommend you search it up on Google because it is so gorgeous.  Another fun thing I did was I went to Byward Market in downtown Ottawa and purchased the legendary Obama Cookie. I also got to meet Kevin Waugh the former Sports reporter for CTV News Saskatoon who is now the MP for Saskatoon-Grasswood.

Ottawa was a really fun experience and I'd recommend if you're a fan of politics, and don't mind going through Security fifteen times a day this is the trip for you. You may only get a once in a lifetime oppurtunity to go to Parliament Hill so don't waste it because in 2018, the House Of Commons and the Senate are moving off the hill for ten years as they will be undergoing renovations and the soonest they hope Centre Block will open is 2028.

That was my day in Parliament and an overall summary of my trip to Ottawa.
