The Humboldt and District Music Festival is in full force in the City of Humboldt, with performances hitting the right note.

The annual event which has been running for over 80 years just wrapped up its piano performances and is set for band, strings, guitar and vocals this week.

"It was a great week with piano, we had a great diversity of performers, right from first-year students all the way to graduating grade 12. It was some beautiful music that was performed," said Patti Durand, President of the Humboldt Music Festival Association.

The performances are judged with winners or unique performers advancing to the final concert taking place at Westminster United Church on April 1st. The names of the performers advancing don't get released until the day of the final concert. However, it's promised to be an event you don't want to miss.

"It's always been a surprise until the final concert, but I can promise there are some unforgettable performances. There was one where I was surprised they didn't break the strings of the piano, it was a powerful, powerful performance. Next Monday, April 1st, 7 pm, at Westminster United is one you don't want to miss.

This week will feature band, strings, guitar and vocals. The band, strings and guitar are slated for March 25th and 26th at St. Augustine school, while the vocals and speech arts will run afterwards on March 27th and 28th at Westminster United Church.

"I really want to give a shout out to all of our instructors and teachers, because without them, our students wouldn't have the opportunity to learn and prepare."

The Humboldt and District Music Festival received a total of 286 entries this year.
