The Humboldt and District Gallery is hosting the member show and sale from now until November 4th, 2017.

Catherine Harrison a cultural programmer with the Humboldt and District Gallery explains how to become a member and what that means for the show and sale.

"Well, here at the gallery we have a membership that's open to everyone so to become a member you pay 15 dollars for an annual membership and that guarantees you a spot in our annual show and sale. So we have 36 of our members who have contributed one or more pieces to this exhibition and all the pieces are for sale and by buying a piece from the show your supporting local artists and the Galleries abilities to bring local art to Humboldtians and provide access to art."

The artists take most of the profit from the sales.

"So the bulk of the money goes straight to the artist and the Gallery takes a small commission it's mutually beneficial for all of us."

The members that bring pieces can bring whatever they would like to showcase. They have many different artistic styles on display.

"It's extremely diverse, we have glass work, photography, painting in various mediums, sculptors, and ceramics. Its a really varied show and varied group of artists, so we have some youth artists, emerging artists and established artists who have been working professionally for years."

Coming up on the 14th of October there is a Member Meet And Greet where people can go out to the Gallery and meet some of the artists and shop pieces as well.
