Tom Lukiwski will be trying for his fifth win in a federal election on October 19th.

The incumbent Conservative Member of Parliament for the Regina-Lumsden-Lake Centre constituency is now seeking the seat for Moose Jaw-Lake Centre-Lanigan.

He believes their track record of opening foreign markets is a key driver of the national economy.

"We have signed over 38 free trade agreements since we came into office in 2006, the New Democrats however has voted against every single one of those agreements except for one. We are a trading province, we are a trading nation so we need to export our resources to outside markets, we need those agreements to gain access to new markets."

One of our nation's key exports is oil. Lukiwski spoke about the importance of the industry but he admits you need to balance the economy as well as the environment when it comes to digging and transporting it.

"We believe that pipelines are necessary economically to be able to get our product to market, it means a great deal to the economy of this country and to our province."

"Pipelines also play a very viable role in protecting the environment, I don' think there is a question in anybody's mind that transporting oil by pipeline is a far safer method of transportation than say, railways."

The expected veto of the Keystone X-L pipeline has been a hot topic among political candidates through out this election campaign.

Lukiwski was first elected in 2004 and has since been re-elected in 2006, 2008 and in 2011.

The 64 year-old Lukiwski is a small business owner, his political portfolio currently reads, Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Government in the House of Commons.

He was born in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan and if he is elected again he states he will set up his main office in Moose Jaw and have at least one other satellite office closer to the city of Saskatoon due to the extremely large region that riding covers.

Lukiwski is running against the NDP's Dustin Hlady, the Liberal's Perry Juttla, Shawn Setyo of the Greens and Robert Thomas who is running under the Rhinoceros Party banner.
