Music has the power to uplift, inspire, and transport.

As a radio DJ at a Top 40 Adult Contemporary station, music plays a big role in my daily life.

The following list includes songs that I personally gravitated towards this past year. These tracks had me dancing, humming, and belting out vocals in my own solo version of James Corden's "Carpool Karaoke" on the way to work.

Here's what I couldn't stop listening to in 2017:

10. ...Ready For It. - Taylor Swift. This highly-anticipated T-Swizzle single had me running around the canola fields of Burr back in the fall, and I still enjoy it today.

9. Bad Liar - Selena Gomez. I became addicted to Selena in 2017, all on account of this addictive song. It now resides on my workout playlist and shall remain there in 2018.

8. Die for You - The Weeknd. His unique, smooth vocals combined with the fact that we share the same hometown equates to Toronto-born The Weeknd having a huge fan in me. 2017 had me crooning along to this hot track during the last half of the year.

7. Bound to You - Jocelyn Alice. I didn't know if there was any way Jocelyn Alice could top 2015's Jackpot, but she managed to get me to "binge-listen" to this one. Her breathy vocals and captivating lyrical content did it for me and made this one a favourite.

6. Attention - Charlie Puth. This young male pop star immediately captured my attention in 2015 with his hit, Marvin Gaye. His notable contributions to the music scene in 2017 included this catchy track, hot single How Long, and his epic rap battle against the Backstreet Boys.

5. Praying - Ke$ha. Just when I thought Ke$ha was nothing more than mass-marketed pop princess lacking in substantial vocal talent, Praying hit the airwaves, and blew me away. A departure for her in many ways, I was pleasantly surprised by Ke$sha's upper register showcased in this track.

4. Despacito - Luis Fonsi/Daddy Yankee/Justin Bieber - Long before I packed up and left Toronto for Saskatchewan this year, I was "Zumba-ing" along with enthusiasm to Despacito. Daddy Yankee, Luis Fonsi, and Justin Bieber brought out the wannabe Latina in me for much of 2017.

3. What Lovers Do - Maroon 5 - Maroon 5 has been dishing out hit after hit of pop perfection and this one definitely measures up to any of their previously released tracks. A permanent fixture on my playlist.

2. Lost Boy (2015) - Ruth B. -Although released in 2015, I only discovered this one in 2017 and I am in love.  Haunting vocals and wistful, dreamy lyrics just spoke to me. A year of many personal highs and lows, Lost Boy just seemed to resonate with me...big time.

1. Main Girl - Charlotte Cardin - If you happen to have heard this song on Bolt FM during my show at all this year, you'd know why I selected it as my Number One pick of the year. I stumbled upon it over an Apple Music playlist and it was one of those rare moments when I heard a song for the first time and just knew it was going to be my favourite. This Canadian songstress from Quebec slays all day with Main GIrl, and I was like a kid on Christmas morning the day this track came to our station...Elated doesn't even begin to cover it. I think Ms. Cardin is going to be HUGE in the industry and I will say so every chance I get!

Happy New Year to you! I can't wait to see what the music industry has in store for us in 2018.
