Hello, My name is Jamie Patterson, I am currently a career and work student working at 107.5 Boltfm Radio Station. In today's blog post, I am going to talk to you about my passions. The main passion I am going to talk about is music. I myself am a musician and have been playing the electric guitar for about 3 and half years. I started out about 7 years ago, playing on small acoustic guitar but quickly found out my hands were too small to reach around the neck to play chords. Eventually, after a few years of waiting for my hands to grow. I was finally able to start learning to play the guitar.

Once I started to learn the acoustic for about half a year, I found out I didn't really enjoy playing the acoustic guitar that much, and wanted to learn how to play the electric guitar. Now I don't really remember what crossed my mind on why I wanted to learn how to play the electric guitar. But let me tell you I don't regret it. Now that I learned the basics of the guitar such as simple power chords and normal chords, I found myself playing the guitar and learning new stuff almost every week. I try Sit down for half an hour to an hour every other day and learn or just jam into something I like.

The main stuff I enjoy to play is currently Rock n Roll, Metal and Punk Rock. Right now, my favorite song of all time to play on my guitar is I Love Rock N Roll By The Black Jets. My goal for that song is to be able to play the full thing by the end of June with the solo Included. I can play some songs from bands such as Nickelback, Guns N Roses, Metalica, Green Day and Blink-182.

I find when learning a new skill, It is good to set goals. Setting goals for yourself is a good way to show progress in learning that certain skill. How I Implement this into learning guitar is I'll choose a song that I would like to try and learn, and break it down so I can learn the full thing. How I do this is by learning the verse first, and whatever finger picking goes along with it  Once I get that down, I'll move onto the pre-chorus and then lastly the chorus. Once I learn all of that, I'll put it all together and try and play the full thing.

Now the question I keep asking myself Is will I ever move onto new genres of music, or even just take a break from guitar and learn a new instrument. That answer to that is, of course, I will. I am always open to new music and also learning new skills. But I don't think I will ever give up the guitar.
