The Humboldt and District Museum received a SARC award on October 25, called The Community Builder Award, to celebrate all that the Museum does for the community.

“SARC is a provincial association of over 100 community-based organizations, dedicated to supporting people of all abilities to live life to their full potential. SARC Members are located throughout Saskatchewan and submit nomination forms to SARC each spring to honour the achievements of the people they support, the commitment local employers have to create an inclusive workforce, and the connection people and organizations have to building a better community,” stated SARC in a release.

From the nominations, six recipients were selected, with the Museum being one of the selections, and were visited by SARC to film a vignette video to highlight their accomplishments and invite them to the annual SARC Awards Banquet.

Futuristic Industries was the organization that nominated the Museum for the award.

“With our 50th anniversary around the corner, we partnered up with the Museum and did our museum exhibit, and because of that, I had nominated the Museum to be recipients of the Community Builder Award for that exhibit, and they won. It was fantastic, we had a camera crew come in and did a story on us and really showed who we were, and what the museum had done for us, and it was fantastic,” stated Stephanie Keller, Community Coordinator with Futuristic Industries.

Keller said that over two thousand people visited the Museum to see Futuristic’s exhibit, and the impact has been more than positive.

“It really got the people we serve out there, and people know who they are now, they have done such a wonderful thing. Just getting the community to know our guys; Angelica and I were at the park one day reading a book, and this lady came up to her and knew who she was, and knew that she loved bowling, and related to her because of the bowling. It was fantastic, just this complete stranger to both of us, and she knew Algelica because of what was going on at the Museum.”

SARC commented on the Museum and its achievements in a release, stating, “Jennifer Fitzpatrick and her team at the Humboldt and District Museum and Gallery are true community builders for the people of Humboldt and area. The Humboldt and District Museum and Gallery works hard to ensure that community is reflected back through their exhibits. It is evident that the community is at the heart of what they do when you experience the exhibits for yourself. Whether it is working to ensure all cultures are represented or working with other organizations, the Humboldt & District Museum and Gallery looks for opportunities to celebrate community.”
