It’ll be a hot time at Discovery Ford this weekend as Hot Cars in the City returns. The 9th annual show makes its way to Discovery Ford in Humboldt on Saturday, August 6 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. It’s a welcome return, says Wally Brecht, organizer of the event.

“There’s all kinds of vehicles coming in right from a 1929 Model A Roadster and a ‘31 Model A Roadster to later model Mustang GTs, vehicles from the Mustang Club in Saskatoon. We’re getting calls from all over the place for people to bring more vehicles. I’m really excited and I think it’s going to be a big turnout.”

Wally says it’s not just cars as a draw. There will be plenty of local talent taking the onsite stage. The entertainment, around six acts in total, should get under way around noon. Also during the noon hour, the show will host a barbecue with the proceeds going toward the Bill Brecht Playground Project. For the post-meal time munchies, free popcorn will be served all day.

“We started this back in 2011, and it seems to be growing every year,” says Brecht. “The best we’d ever had was 47 vehicles, and I’m hoping to have 60 this year.”

The weather looks to cooperate this weekend for the 9th Annual Hot Cars in the City, taking over Humboldt’s west side at Discovery Ford.
