The HCI Mohawks will be saluting past players, coaches, and other team members this upcoming season.

On September 13th, the HCI Mohawks Football Team will be hosting a night game at Glenn Hall Park against Melfort. The game is set to be labelled as the first ever Alumni Game with former members returning from far and wide.

"We are trying to get as many of those players to be at the game so we can honour them in person," said Brian Grest, Horizon School Division's administrator of student activities.

Grest calculated that there are around 900 former members of the team. One of the focuses is on connecting with the players from the 1972 and 1975 teams. The team from 1972 was the first ever HCI football team put together, while just three years later in 1975 the team won its first ever championship.

"The one thing about history is you can't change it; I value my experience as a former football player at Humboldt Collegiate.  Athletics was such a huge part of my school life and the opportunity to bring people together and relive those good old times is really quite invaluable," stated Grest.

If you are an HCI Mohawk Football Team alumnus that would like to attend the game on September 13th, you can contact Brian Grest at brian.grest@horizonsd.ca.

On September 14th, the current team is planning to host a breakfast for the 1975 Mohawks with funds supporting the HCI football program.
