The Cage doors were slammed shut on the Broncos offence in Nipawin. 

The Humboldt Broncos took on the Nipawin Hawks on Friday, October 11th and dropped the first meeting between the two clubs 7-2.

The Hawks opened the first period with two goals courtesy of Brodie Girod and Burke Simpson as the Broncos found themselves down 2-0 for the second straight game. Once again, for the second straight game, the Broncos sut the lead in half.

Tristan Shewchuck picked up his 10th of the year in the second period. He now has matched his total goal output of last season in his first 11 games this year. The remaining time in the second period belonged to the Nipawin Hawks.  The Hawks scored four straight goals by Zach Cox, Jake Tremblay, Brodie Girod, and Burke Simpson to take a 6-1 lead into the third period. 

In the third, the Broncos added thier final goal of the game when Zach McIntyre pounced on a loose puck in front of the net. The Hawks and Zach Cox would put one more on the board before time expired and flew off with a 7-2 victory. 

Brendan Forman stared in net for the Broncos and stopped 15 of 21, before being replaced with Dawson Cochrane who stopped 5 of 6. 

The loss drops the Broncos record to 6-4-0-1. The team remains in second place in their division, four points up on the Notre Dame Hounds.

Humboldt will finish off a three-game in three-day stretch when they host the La Ronge Ice Wolves on Saturday, October 12th.
