Just north of Lake Lenore along the west side of Highway 368, drivers may notice hard hats and steel toe boots running along the fence line.

Murray Ramler, who owns the land, is responsible for the hats on top of the fence posts. A few years ago, Ramler and the rest of the employees at Doepker Industries in Annaheim traded their expired hard hats and other equipment for new safety equipment.

Ramler decided to take the expired hard hats off of his workplace's hands. Not only did the 26-year employee of Doepker Industries recover the hats from Annaheim but also from their facilities in Saskatoon and Moose Jaw. Over the years, Ramler has gathered all the old hard hats and work boots and placed them on the fence posts running along Highway 368 as a memorial.

"I thought it would be a good way to honour people that have been killed on the job in the trades industries of Saskatchewan," stated Murray Ramler.

It's crazy how so many little items along the highway mean so much.
