If the weather permits it, it could be the perfect weekend to get your clubs out and find a course to knock some balls around! There are a couple awesome local events happening this weekend if you're an avid golfer.

First off for all you lady golfers out there, the Diva For a Day golf tournament is taking place this Saturday at the Humboldt Golf Course. The event features nine holes of golf, three meals for the day, a list of fun activities, and will raise funds for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Humboldt and Humboldt Kinettes.

Second, McNab Park in Watson is hosting their open golf tournament on Sunday, starting at 1 PM. You can get yourself entered for $40 and the proceeds go towards park renovations to improve your golf experience for the future.

While the golfing events look promising this weekend, the forecast leaves a lot to be desired. As of 2PM on Thursday, the forecast for Saturday is Cloudy and windy with a 60 percent chance of showers, with a high of 24. Sunday looks to be much better, however, with a clear, sunny day and a high of 27.

Recently, Macmillan Cancer Support, one of the leading British cancer charities, conducted a study that showed playing a full round of golf on foot, carrying your clubs is equivalent to a week's worth of excercise. The average player will walk between four and eight miles in a full round and burn around 1500 calories! What a great way to stay in shape. If you want to read more on the study, click here.

So get out there and swing those clubs! It'll make you healthier.
