The Bolt FM Fetch the Fuel Tank event with the Humboldt Co-op Agro Centre also fetched a host of hungry barbecue fans on Thursday, August 10. Along with prize draw for goodies donated by the Co-op and Hergott Farm Equipment, with special thanks to SWATMAPS for their sponsorship.

The barbecue was undertaken by the Bill Brecht Park Committee which continues to raise funds for the playground.

Things are going really well,” said committee member Cathy Zimmerman, giving an update on the playground progress. “In June, we were able to complete phase one, and just recently we have ordered a lot of phase two equipment which includes the double zip line, the carriage swing, and we had three very generous sponsors who have purchased benches for the playground as well.”

The final pieces of equipment are on order and the fundraising continues to meet that goal.

“Our community and our neighbourhood have been just fantastic,” added Zimmerman. “I want to thank the Co-op for allowing us to run the barbecue and all of the volunteers who have come out on a rainy afternoon and all of the customers who have come out.”

“We’re proud to partner with Bolt FM on giving away the fuel tank,” said Joe Von Doellen, general manager of the Humboldt Co-op. “Humboldt Co-op is always excited to be part of community events, and partnering with other businesses in the community is very important to who we are and what we do.”

The winner of the fuel tank, provided by Meridian Manufacturing, was Sheldon Dust of Humboldt.
