There’s more softball in store for a group of five young women from the area. 

District 5 (Prairie Central) has selected a group of talented young girls to represent the area at the Saskatchewan Softball Association U13 Showcase tournament to be held in Battleford August 19-21.

 Eleven females were chosen after July tryouts in Lumsden and Watrous. The squad has been practicing in those communities even since with exhibition play leading up to the event.

 Area players selected include Bella Abrey from Watrous, Trinity Shaw, Rowan Clement, and Jordan Zazula from Humboldt, as well as Muenster’s Sarah Loehr.

 According to the Saskatchewan Softball, the purpose of the event is:

  • to provide additional playing opportunities for girls

  • to extend the ball playing season

  • to showcase excellence in all Districts

  • opportunity for players to experience higher level of ball

  • player development and promotion of sport
