The SHSAA Regional Badminton Championships were in Foam Lake on Saturday. In Boys singles, Cael Zimmerman (Englefeld) went undefeated as he won first place while Dylan Larson (Humboldt) finished with a 1-2 record in the round robin. Emily Zaleschuk (Wakaw) beat Clea Parsaligan (Humboldt) in straight sets to finish third in girls singles.  The Horizon Central district would grab another first-place finish as the team of Rylan Marianchuk, and Seth Schuler (Humboldt) won boys doubles with Troy Martinka and Cole Smith (Middle Lake) winning third. In girls doubles the team of Anna Lyza Crisanto and Tanya Baga (Englefeld) would beat a team from Shellbrook to finish third. Jessie Wilson and Odysseus Moorman (Lake Lenore) would go 0-2 in their two games of round robin play. In mixed doubles, Kara Miskolczi and Taevan Athmer (Englefeld) would bring the region of Horizon Central their third regional gold, while the other mixed doubles team Mikayla Farrell and Tanner Tkachyk would go winless in their three round-robin games. Cael Zimmerman, the duo of Rylan Marianchuk and Seth Schuler, as well as Kara Miskolczi and Taevan Athmer, will all now advance to SHSAA Badminton Provincials May 12 in Wilkie.
