It’s back to school for students in both school divisions in Humboldt on September 1. After a great summer of rest and recreation, students and teachers head into classes for another exciting year of learning.

For their part, teachers in Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools, including St. Augustine and St. Dominic Schools in Humboldt have been back for inservices and preparation as early as last week.

“Our teachers and staff are getting excited to welcome students back into the schools for another school year,” says Derrick Kunz, communications consultant with GSCS. “Teachers and staff have been back learning new things, getting familiar with their new classroom if they’re a new staff member coming on board. We have some division-wide professional development they can participate in, along with a teachers convention.”

The Division members will be getting together on August 31 to celebrate mass. It’s a way to kick off the school year in a positive way that’s grounded in faith, notes Kunz.

Just a reminder to motorists in Humboldt that school speed zones are reinstated for the school year on September 1. Speed limits in posted school zones drop from 40 km to 30 km per hour during posted times.
