Change is a constant in institutions that date back to the settlement of the province, and St. Peter’s Parish and St. Peter’s Abbey have seen a pair of changes. One retirement and one additional novice represents the type of change that has characterized the long lived parish and abbey.

On Sunday, July 12, St. Peter’s Parish bade farewell to its pastor, Father Paul Paproski, following his five year term at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Muenster. Father Paul has been a long time resident of and contributor to St. Peter’s Abbey as a member of its clergy. Father Paul’s retirement gathering was held at the Abbey’s St. Jerome Assembly room. Originally hailing from Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan, Father Paul was surrounded by family and friends. With a strong interest in provincial and local history, hopes are high that Father Paul will be able to continue work on a book chronicling parish histories across the province.

On July 11, St. Peter’s Abbey welcomed new novice Robert Janiga, who will go by Br. Denys, to its ranks. Originally from the Toronto area, Br. Denys has been a resident of the Abbey undergoing training and working in the business office and library.
