Ah, the crisp autumn air, the colours of falling leaves, and the delightful scent of roasted goodness wafting from kitchens, Us Canadians have the pleasure of gathering around the table on the second Monday of October, giving thanks for the blessings of the past year for our annual Thanksgiving celebrations.

Thanksgiving is not just a holiday; it's a heartfelt celebration of gratitude and togetherness. Families and friends come together, setting aside their busy lives to appreciate the love, support, and bounty that surrounds them. Around dinner tables adorned with autumnal decorations, we share what they are thankful for, fostering a sense of unity and appreciation for life's simple pleasures. Many families have the tradition of going around the table and sharing something they are thankful for during the past year.

The traditional Thanksgiving dinner showcases the iconic roast turkey, tender and succulent, adorned with stuffing and served with cranberry sauce. But that's just the beginning! At Thanksgiving 2022, 2.1 million whole turkeys were purchased by Canadians, equal to 32% of all whole turkeys that were sold over the year. Traditionally each province and territory have their own iconic dish. Some of these include, turkey, roast beef, ham, salmon, various autumn veggies, and many desserts including pumpkin pie, apple pie, butter tarts, and Nanaimo bars, yum!

Many of our families take the long weekend as an opportunity to escape to the countryside for apple picking, hayrides, and corn mazes. It's a time when families venture into nature, appreciating the beauty of the changing seasons and making memories that last a lifetime.  Feeding the birds at St. Peters is always a good time!
