The Bruno Fire Department has acquired a new fire truck for the greater benefit of Bruno and other surrounding rurals.

On Thursday, March 21st, at the volunteer appreciation night, the new Freightliner diesel tandem axle truck with an extended cab was on display for the public. The truck was part of this year's budget for the Bruno council and the Rural Municipalities of Bayne.

The new truck will help the fire department by doubling the water capacity the crew can carry during a fire call. Also, the truck will triple the pumping capacity and drawing capacity compared to the old truck. Finally, it will also hold twice as many firefighters than the other trucks in the department.

"If it gets dry and if we have twice as much water for a fire and we can actually pump a lot more water in a shorter amount of time," said Hugh Corbett, Fire Chief of the Bruno Fire Department.

The new fire truck has an estimated value of forty to fifty thousand dollars.
