The Humboldt Broncos fell to the La Ronge Ice Wolves last night for their first loss of the regular season.

A timely penalty early in the going gave Humboldt the power play and a series of excellent chances but Wolves goalie Topher Chirico stood the test. The Ice Wolves turned
the pressure on with a more aggressive style, but the opening frame ended in a scoreless draw.

As they have in the regular season, the Broncos came out flying in the early seconds of the second with Ethan Zielke, off Timothy Kim and Noah Barlage, netting the first goal. La Ronge answered half way through, but newly acquired Jacob Boucher scored with assists from Xavier Roy and Cage Newans. The WHL vet Boucher settled in to the Broncos line up added additional up front firepower and defensive savvy.

The action heated up in the third, with La Ronge's Ethan Strik tying it up with a minute and a half left. Bronco fans were resigned to some overtime when a turnover in front of the Broncos' net cost them the win with just seconds left on the clock.

The Broncos are in Nipawin on Friday and back on home ice Saturday to face the Melville Millionaires. As always, the play call is on 107.5 Bolt FM.
