It was a statement win for the Humboldt Broncos, who picked up their first victory of the 2019/20 season.

The Broncos tangoed in a rematch with the Flin Flon Bombers on Saturday, September 21st after losing the night prior. A completely different story created the headlines as Humboldt skated away with a dominant 9-3 win.

A 60-minute effort was needed to combat the top-heavy Bombers inside the Whitney Forum, and that’s exactly what the Broncos provided.

Tristan Shewchuk got the goal-scoring parade started, and the party didn’t stop anytime soon. Goals from Justin Jamer, Josh Paulhus, and Braiden Koran, all their first as a Humboldt Bronco, provided a four-goal outburst in the opening frame.

The green and gold picked up right where they left off in the second period. Shewchuk started it off, and finished it in the middle frame, completing the hattrick. Another was added from Spencer Weinkauf, his first as a Bronco, and 4-0 lead turned into a 7-1 margin after 40 minutes.

In the third period, Flin Flon added two more. However, the Broncos slipped the punches and countered with two of their own, Josh Paulhus scored his second of the game, and Bryson Cecconi sealed the deal in a 9-3 victory for the Broncos' first win of the season.

The Broncos powerplay went 3 for 7. Brendan Foreman picked up his first career Jr. A win in net, stopping 27 of 30 shots faced.

The Broncos will be back in action for the SJHL Showcase on Monday, September 24th in Warman, SK when they take on the Estevan Bruins.
