Mark another great local concert opportunity on the calendar on Saturday, February 17, Local musical favourite Brian Grest takes the stage with a host of his musical compatriots backing him in an “unplugged, somewhat acoustic” showcase. The show will be held at the Humboldt Community Gathering Place starting at 7:30 pm.

On stage will be 40 Oz Philosophy and BBC guitarist Brett Hrynewich, Katie Nichol and Jodie Hergott (Lady Friday), Nathan Gregg, and master Canadian song interpreter Walter Bushman. The concert is a benefit by Grest and crew for the Gathering Place. A percentage of the door proceeds and all of the net beverage and 50/50 proceeds go directly to the Gathering Place for its operation. The Humboldt Lions Club will volunteer their services at the concert.

"It’ll be mostly 60s and 70s standards, songs that everyone knows,” promises Grest. “It’s a six-piece band backing me. Some are people that I’ve played with before, but the combination of the six of us have never played before, so this is kind of a first-time thing for us.”

Despite his long performing career, Grest seldom anchors the stage as a headliner and admits the concert strays a bit from his comfort zone and his usual role, but he’s equally excited at the prospect.

“I wanted to do it to support a good cause, and hopefully it will be entertaining. It’s a bunch of local artists, and we’re hoping we get some local support for our artists and to help out a local organization as well.”

Reserve your spot on the guest list by calling (306) 231-8284 and pay cash at the door. Enjoy a special evening with Brian and a great array of local musical talent.
