Big Brothers Big Sisters Humboldt had a very successful outcome of this year’s Bowl for Kid's Sake.

Jodie Hergott, Director for Big Brothers Big Sisters, was on the moon with all the support.

“This year was Awesome, it was out of this world pertaining to our theme.”

St.Augustine participated in the event as well, with eight classrooms taking part.

“[St.Augustine} raised over $3500 for Bowl for Kids Sake this year, very impressive, so a big shout-out to principal Korte-Monz and her crew.”

Overall, Big Brothers Big Sisters Humboldt raised $12,000 in the Bowl for Kid's Sake event.

The organization is already in preparation for its next fundraising event, Diva for a Day.

“We’re recommending you ladies in the community save the date, June 11. Our registrations open April 4, and we are here to say that this years’ theme is ‘Hillbilly Soiree’.”

Funds raised from these events go towards giving children within the community a mentor.

Jodie Hergott explained why mentoring is important.

“How we support our children today, really impacts who they become tomorrow. Mentoring is a primary intervention to prevent, and address the adversities that our youth face today. We still have a waitlist of 14 children, so if you have a few hours a month that you can spare, please think of us. A little kindness can go a long way in a child's life.”

Those interested in mentoring can visit the BBBS website, its Facebook page or call their office at (306) 682-2829.
