The Ready for a Change Job Fair is coming up this Saturday, October 22 along with the add on supper event with motivational speaker, Corliss Rassyle. As people prepare to take their important next steps into their work worlds, the Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce has Corliss on hand to help attendees launch into their new space with how to “Be the Best You.” The supper takes place at 6:30 pm in Jubilee Hall.

Rassyle is behind her consulting firm, Corliss Co. Consulting, and she brings an extensive background of speaking and committing to help individuals improve on a number of fronts.

Rassyle says the path she has taken stems from being a small town farmgirl, one of eight children, growing up with a core of strong rural values and an understanding of the way of life.

“As I grew up and moved into the city, I was exposed to a new opportunity and a bigger picture for life by the direct sales company I joined,” she says. “That led me on a path to becoming an entrepreneur, and coaching and mentoring other people to succeed in their business. That’s landed me in the place that I’m at now.”

The Job Fair intends to present new opportunities to those seeking work or seeking a change in their work environments. So too does Corliss invite that change on a personal level.

“I would say the presentation on Saturday is geared for anyone who is feeling kind of “blah”, stuck in a rut, at a crossroads - not really sure what the next step is for them.”

Rassyle acknowledges that collectively, society has gone through something very significant and life altering with the pandemic. There are other traumas that people endure that may lead to the sorts of shift in direction she talks about. Her message, in part, reminds us that there are people and resources to help navigate those turbulent waters of fortune.

“We all want to be successful and live a happy life, and when we go through these experiences that knock us down, sometimes we need each other to pick ourselves back up, and I think that’s who this is for - anybody who really wants to live their best life and wants some help, support and inspiration to do that.”

Rassyle acknowledges that some people’s traumas are a function of circumstance, the doings of others, and things beyond the scope of control. In the end, however, she promotes the idea of self-empowerment - of drawing on inner resources to create the resolve and galvanize the spirit to personal betterment.

“It really all starts with you, and there are going to be some basic practical tips that you can use to help you move forward as the best that you can be.”

Taking care of yourself is one of those keys, she notes, in a physical, mental and spiritual sense. A firm believer in personal narrative and sharing through storytelling, Corliss comes armed with her own experience, and the experience of others, to illuminate some of the approaches to creating the best you.
