It's that time of year where drivers will have to share the road with farmers.

This harvest season, the Government of Saskatchewan is reminding drivers to be aware of farm equipment traveling on Saskatchewan highways.

“We all need to do our part to keep highways safe for everyone, so please be aware of slower-moving equipment," said Highways and Infrastructure Minister Greg Ottenbreit.

Drivers may encounter combines, grain trucks, tractors, and other large equipment. Grain bins may also be transported along highways with plenty of grain expected to come from the crops in 2020.

“Agriculture is the foundation of Saskatchewan's economy, so we understand the importance of getting the crop off and safely into the bin,” added Ottenbreit.

When you encounter a large piece of farm equipment in the oncoming lane, be sure to slow down and move to the right as far as possible to make room. If you end up behind one of these large pieces of equipment, be sure to slow down and pass only when it's safe.

Help make this harvest season the safest one yet by sharing the road with Humboldt and area farmers.
