Tomorrow (April 7th) will officially be known as Green Shirt Day in Humboldt.

On April 3rd, Mayor Rob Muench proclaimed April 7, 2019, as Green Shirt Day stemming from former Humboldt Bronco Logan Boulet's decision to register as an organ donor. Logan succumbed to his injuries on April, 7th 2018, as a result of the Humboldt Bronco tragedy the day before.

Logan's decision to become an organ donor not only saved six lives but in turn, inspired 100,000 other Canadians to register as organ donors. This was the largest number of Canadians to register as organ donors in Canadian history due to one event.

“Logan had just signed his donor card the summer before he passed away. For such a young man to make a brave and selfless decision, he has inspired thousands of Canadians to become donors and has created an everlasting legacy for years to come," said Mayor Muench.

Coincidentally, green is one of the official colours of the City of Humboldt and it is also the official colour for organ and tissue donation, symbolizing the hope organ donors provide to patients in need.

Mayor Muench encourages the citizens of the City of Humboldt to consider organ donation and have that “kitchen table talk” with their families.
