The Conexus Credit Union Humboldt Broncos Memorial Golf Tournament is returning for its second year and registrations are now open.

The annual tournament will be held at the Humboldt Golf Club on August 24th.

"It gives us a great opportunity to give back to our home town and the hockey team we hold close to our heart," said Humboldt native, former Broncos Play by Play Broadcaster, and one of the organizers of the event, Brian Munz.

The Humboldt Broncos Memorial Golf Tournament will be open for anyone. However, due to high interest, a lottery will take place to determine the selected teams following the admission of any family members of those involved in the April 6th bus accident.

"The first opportunity goes to the families of those that were involved in the accident. Whether its brothers and sisters, parents, husbands, wives, all of the families have the first opportunity to get in. After that, we have the opportunity for the sponsors to get involved. We know there are fans and everyone else that wants to get involved too, so what we've decided to do this year because we have so much interest and only a limited number of golf spots, is hold a lottery. We are opening registration until June 7th, and at that point, we will have a lottery draw for all the people that entered via the email, and we will let them know if they have the chance to get in. If people don't get into the golf tournament, they are still more than welcome to come to the banquet. We have a lot more banquet availability that we do golf spots."

The money raised from the Broncos Memorial Golf Tournament will go directly back into the Humboldt Broncos Organization.

"All of the money we raised, just like last year, is going to go back to the Broncos hockey club, the hockey operations, and whatever the club feels they want to do to enhance the productivity of Bronco hockey. It's to continue to make the Broncos one of the key destinations for junior hockey players from North America to come and be a part of the City of Humboldt. We know it's going to a great cause because the hockey club is so important to everybody in the city."

This year's tournament has a few new things on tap including entertainment that will be announced in the next coming weeks.

"What really has us excited is that last year we put this together in a span of about five or six weeks. This year we've had a full year to build and continue to grow the event. There's a lot of special things that make it something a lot of people want to be a part of. The main goal is to remember the 29 that were involved in the bus accident and keep the community together through hockey and golf."

Individuals who would like to register can do so by emailing hbgolfmemorial@gmail.com. Please include how many golfers you are in hopes of registering.

The registrations will be open until June 7th with the lottery to follow.
