In almost every deal, there are always some participants that gain more than others.

Manhong Zhu is studying Agricultural Economics at the University of Florida.

She looked at the Trans Pacific Partnership and says countries like Japan are a major obstacle to the deal as their farmers have a lot of political clout and receive a high level of government support.

Meanwhile see says other than the concerns in the Dairy sector Canada could see some gains.

"I think it's beneficial to canola and canola growers because you can actually process canola domestically to have more labourers work in Canada," she said. "And in terms of beef and pork, you can export more products to Japan."

Zhu was one of the presenters at this weekends Farming for Profit Conference in Moose Jaw.
