Several factors in global markets have led to a massive disparity for local producers searching to get top dollar for their products.

Mike Jubinville with ProFarmer Canada says that wheat has seen a rise.

"We see some premiums associated with high protein, high quality get introduced into the marketplace. Not only because of the Canadian situation, but globally."

Jubinville noted however that while production was up, there were also many fallbacks.

"Although volumes of wheat production were record high, there were quality issues elsewhere," he said. "We're seeing a fairly wide disparity in wheat and in durum, relative to quality."

He also speculates that it could take until the end of the next marketing cycle to offload the vast amount of grain that is currently on the market.
